Your Support Matters at The Grove!
Every contribution—no matter the size—directly supports resident service programming, including on-site activities, classes, and supports that help residents engage in community life with confidence, dignity, and connection, as well as broader community programming that brings meaningful social, educational, and wellness opportunities into daily living. As an affordable housing community, resources are intentionally focused on keeping housing stable and accessible, which means there is limited funding available for enrichment activities and events that make a community feel vibrant and connected. Additional support helps us go beyond basic services to create moments of joy, belonging, and shared experience that truly make The Grove feel like home.

FAQ
Why is Supportive Programming at The Grove so Essential?
Supportive programming at The Grove is essential because housing alone isn’t enough to ensure people are truly stable, connected, and thriving—especially in a neuro-inclusive community serving adults with I/DD. While having an affordable, accessible home is the foundation, ongoing programming helps residents build the routines, relationships, and confidence that make independent living sustainable over time.
At The Grove, supportive programming creates opportunities for social connection, skill-building, and community engagement in ways that are intentionally inclusive and accessible. It helps reduce isolation, supports residents in navigating day-to-day life in a shared environment, and fosters a sense of belonging that is often just as important as physical housing itself.
Equally important, this programming reinforces the resident-driven model of care at the heart of The Grove. It creates space for residents to shape their own community experience while being supported in ways that respect their autonomy, preferences, and chosen circles of support.
Why is the supportive programming not already funded?
Supportive programming at The Grove is not fully funded upfront because most affordable housing financing is focused on capital costs like land, construction, and maintaining long-term housing affordability, rather than the ongoing community-building and enrichment activities that help residents truly thrive. As a result, funding for things like social activities, classes, and engagement programming is often limited or not permanently built into traditional housing budgets.
Instead, these efforts are typically supported through a mix of operating resources, grants, and philanthropic contributions. At The Grove, this approach also allows flexibility to design programming that is responsive and resident-driven, but it means ongoing external support is essential to ensure these offerings remain consistent, meaningful, and accessible to all residents.
